What You Should Look for When Outsourcing Tech
Both startups and corporations outsource parts of their business — tech development most of all. The number-one benefit is convenience, but you get what you pay for, so a few precautions matter.
Define your requirements
Every project and developer is different. Set expectations up front: have they done similar work, what tech do they specialise in, how long and how much? Weigh soft skills — communication can make or break a project. Agree how and when you’ll communicate (Slack, calls) and set overlapping working hours. Proper planning prevents poor performance.
Cost-efficiency
Consider the triple constraint — time, quality and money. Outsourcing gets work done at a relatively lower cost, but that depends on where you outsource. Cheaper wages don’t always mean high quality; experience and specialism (e.g. app development for startups) come at a higher rate. Finding the sweet spot between cost and quality is never purely financial.
Scaling up
If it’s going well, document what worked for future projects. To scale, consider an agency over single freelancers: higher cost, but you know what you’re getting. Check testimonials, past projects, work process, vision and culture fit — alignment makes everything smoother.
Work methodology
Decide on a methodology. Waterfall is linear — each stage finishes before the next — suited to projects where components must be designed up front. Agile delivers in sprints with high customer involvement and back-and-forth communication. Define it beforehand to make the process easier for everyone.
Being entrepreneur-centric
Our approach keeps your needs first: a brainstorming session to understand the product, then weekly sprints with daily updates and a constant feedback loop. Each feature passes QA validated by a QA specialist, UX/UI designer and product owner, with a final review and release on your go-ahead.
